Doug & Sue Mercantile

Named after her creative parents, Doug & Sue, Beth Nohlgren’s motto is “the weirder, the better.” Growing up with inventive parents gave her the curiosity to learn how things are made and the confidence to assume she could do it too.

Beth is currently digging needle felting and all the ways it lends itself to the absurd (think silly monsters, sharks, gnomes and more!). She’s also still figuring out how to use old items (buttons, jars and wool sweaters) to bring new life to once-loved treasures. The weirder, the better. Bringing joy to people is what motivates her work so come and find some love in her booth!

Doug & Sue Mercantile will feed your imagination with Beth’s wild felted creatures – come meet her monsters, gnomes, fruit, birds, sharks and more.

Andrea Wilson Illustration

Andrea Wilson is a local Kingston-based designer and illustrator (and tattoo artist!) who specializes in whimsical hand cut paper artworks that feature nature, animals, and texture. She graduated from FIT with a BFA in Illustration and has been in the Hudson Valley since 2016.

She first started cutting paper for a class assignment where students were asked to work in a medium they’d never tried, and in a desperate attempt to avoid oil painting she grabbed an x-acto knife and hasn’t put it down for 12 years. With a profound appreciation of flora, fauna, and folk art, she often gathers inspiration from classic children’s stories, vintage books, and the fat cats that live in her house.

Andrea can be found at many art shows throughout the year, as a regular at the Hudson Valley Hullabaloo, The Farmhouse Project, and the Rhinebeck Crafts Festival. The craft community has been an amazing and welcoming resource and influence for a growing artist.

The words beautiful, fanciful, whimsical, playful, charming, and magical don’t begin to sum up the breadth of feeling and talent in Andrea Wilson’s artwork and her collection of vintage & antique prints. Her original paper artwork is available in her booth – as well as vintage prints, framed simply to allow the works to shine. If you love animals – both real & imagined – the patterns found in nature, and beautiful bits of works on paper from the past, Andrea’s is a must shop for you.
